In the Euregio, just across the border in Germany, there are still several (coal) spoil heaps that refer to the era of the mining industry. In recent years I have regularly walked there. In the period 2012-2016, this series was created in, on and around these slag heaps. You are exposed to the elements of nature there; the wind, the rain, nature goes undisturbed. Sometimes you come across deer or you see birds of prey that skilfully tack on the winds around these mountains in search of prey. Occasionally a motocross rider on his mechanical horse defies his strength on the steep slopes of these mountains. On top of these mountains you have fantastic views of the landscape and you see how the environment slowly changes, new factories and residential areas are planted in the landscape . Some mountains are given a new function as recreational, playing and walking places.
